Exploring our Heavenly Father’s Treasure House – update 14 Kislev 5775
14 I am the good shepherd; I know my own, and my own know me — 15 just as the Father knows me, and I know the Father — and I lay down my life on behalf of the sheep.
John 10:14 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
הבשורה על-פי יוחנן 10:14-15Habrit Hakhadasha/Haderekh (HHH)
14 “אני הרועה הטוב; אני מכיר את צאני והן מכירות אותי, 15 כשם שאבי מכיר אותי ואני מכיר את אבי; ואני מקריב את חיי למען הצאן.
The Book of Enoch
‘… And a sheep which had been saved from the wolves fled and escaped to the wild asses; and I saw the sheep how they lamented and cried, and besought their Lord with all their might, till that Lord of the sheep descended at the voice of the sheep from a lofty abode, and came to them and pastured them. ‘

Reflections for 2014
How strange that from seemingly eclectic mix of sources the theme of ‘sheep – suffering – survival’ is very much ‘in one’s face’. The situation that Israel faces is dire and continues to worsen – for those of us who have to suffer noisy neighbours – can truly sympathise with a country that has never had one days peace on its borders. Quite frankly I am not sure I know of any other country has been attacked in such a sustained way over the years.
We are told that we are living in the ‘End Times’… what does this really and truly mean? How can I – who is committed to a path of non-violence – respond with any degree of civilisation to the hostile people around us?
A tricky question indeed.
